My dear classmate plainedge high 1966', Pat Fink SO good to see your name . And Jon Durfee
I think of Mr Mac over the years with such fondness. What a wonderful teacher and mentor. Pat we were 2 of 4 altos in the Madrigal group. I was looking at some comments on Plainedge High School public group on FB in reference to the passing of: Gerald Kirby last year, and wanted to hear: Let Not Your song end.
Glad to report Mr. Mac is well and still playing golf. After some years in FL, he and his wife returned to Long Island where they now reside near their children. He is not active in music these days but is reading a lot, he reports. As always, well informed!
i too had mr mc locklin, from 9th to 12th grade 1975-79. he was an amazing theacher. i still remember a song we sang in 9th grade-it was lucy in the sky with diamonds. me, barbara ciani, maria marino, cheryl farb had a great time in his class. by the way, does anyone remember mr. felicia-he was the music teacher at bladwin drive school(remember that?) one day in the H.S he was a substitute for mr. M and he couldn't believe (nor could i) that i remembered him. I cant believe how much i remember from that long ago and sometimes have trouble remembering what happened last week:
I came to this website for almost the same reason. I wanted to pass along a piece of music I wrote that I thought he might find interesting. I was glad to read from the other fellow that Mr. Mac was well. Several years ago I sent him a letter through Plainedge. They forwarded it. He has a policy, I believe, of not corresponding. I guess I'll contact the school and see if it is still possible to reach him through them.
I am glad to hear that you are well. Do you hear from any of the other choir members from the Class of '66? Have you kept up with music? I'll bet Vermont has been great all these years. I bought some property in NH after my stint in the Air Force at the end of Vietnam. I used to get up there with the kids, but not recently. I used to sing some of my music in a little church in the community up there when visiting. A little Christmas song I wrote has been on the air for more than 20 years now, and can be heard on the Bible Broadcasting Network each December. You find their stations or can listen on the web at BBNradio.org, I believe. You can see that the Plainedge music program had its influence on me, and I still recall the good times.
he was still riding his motorcycle to school in 1974. I played golf at sunken meadow about 3-4 years ago and was teamed up with him. It was a great day, as we shared memories of years ago. He still looked the same as you would remember him. As we said goodby after our round, we shook hands and at the same time said, " Let Not Your Song End".
I graduated from Plainedge HS in 1966. I often think about Mr. McLocklin who was the choir instructor. He was an amazing guy who inspired us to reach for more than we thought we were capable of. He gave us opportunities to shine, to excell, to feel really good about being alive, which is quite something when you're 15 years old. I now live in Vermont and have for the past 33 years. Is there any way I can find out if he is still on this earthly plane? I would love to write to him and thank him for all he did. If you could help me out, I would appreciate it immensely. I think he lived in Ronkonkoma (and came to school on his motorcycle). This might be something my memory bank has crossed wires on. So thanks for listening and thanks for any efforts to find William McLocklin, better known as Mr. Mac.
